Mycroft heard his phone chime, and picked it up. It chimed again in his hands.
Most people thought he had boring text tones. But Mycroft Holmes had perfect pitch, and the Am7 chord told him both times that it was Lestrade. He opened the first text, and it rang out a third time. He gritted his teeth, then proceeded to read.
He was irritated by the text speak, further still by the frequency and escalating inanity of the DI's texts. (as if he didn't know where his brother was, as if he didn't know where Lestrade was, and why the devil should he care about Molly Hooper's domesticated feline?)
He texted back
My dear Inspector, I much prefer English to texting abbreviations, but I understand you're a busy man. I am informed of the situation. If you become privy to new knowledge I would much appreciate it."
